The 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War gold and silver commemorative coins are to be issued

The People’s Bank of China is to issue a set of gold and silver commemorative coins for the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War on August 20th 2015. The set of coin consists of a gold coin and two silver coins, all of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.


I. Design of the coins

i. Obverse design

The set of gold and silver commemorative coin bear the common obverse of the National Emblem of the People’s Republic of China, the title of PRC and the year date.

ii. Reverse design

The reverse of the 7.776g (1/4oz) gold coin features a soldier of the 8th route Army playing the bugle, Baota Mountain and Yanhe River in Yan’an, the iconic symbols of the number “70” and the time “1945-2015”, the words “The 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War”in Chinese and the face value.

The reverse of the 155.52g (5oz) silver coin features a “V” symbol for victory, peace doves, the iconic symbols of the number “70” and the time “1945~2015”, the words “The 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War”in Chinese and the face value.

The reverse of the 31.104g (1oz) silver coin features a group statue representing all Chinese people’s efforts in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Great Wall, sea spray, the iconic symbols of the number “70” and the time “1945-2015”, the words “The 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War” in Chinese and the face value.


II. Specifications and mintage of the coins

  1. The 7.776g (1/4oz)gold coin is proof in quality, 22mm in diameter, 100 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 7.776 grams (1/4 troy ounce) of pure gold. The total mintage is 50000 pieces.

  2. The 155.52(5oz) silver coin is proof in quality, 70mm in diameter, 100 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 155.52 grams (5 troy ounces) of pure silver. The total mintage is 5000 pieces.

  3. The 31.104g (1oz) silver coin is proof in quality, 40mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 31.104 gram (1 troy ounce) of pure silver. The total mintage is 100000 pieces.


III. This set of gold and silver commemorative coins are minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co., Ltd, Shenyang Mint Co., Ltd and Shanghai Mint Co., Ltd, and solely distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
